Thirty-one SABR members and friends joined together Tuesday evening at our new location, the Ragun Cajun Restaurant to hear our good friend Jimmy Wynn speak of his long and distinguished major league career. At the conclusion of the meeting Jimmy autographed copies of his new book "Toy Cannon". The response was so good that Bill McCurdy had to go out to his car and bring in additional copies to meet the demand.

We welcomed 2 new members to SABR, Harry McMahon and Charles Harrison, and had 2 more sign up at the meeting, Jimmy Wynn and Jimmy Disch.

There was a straw vote on the 12 candidates eligible for election for the Hall of Fame in December with the lead vote getters being Marvin Miller and Billy Martin, followed by Dave Conception and Tommy John.

Greg Lucas filled us in on the new television network being put together by the Astrols and Rockets but said that Fox Sports would still be a major player in the Houston area for Rangers baseball and college sports.

Tom White prepared the trivia contest which was won by Zach Beal. Zach will now draw up the next trivia quiz.

Jeff Share brought more than 10 door prizes which were much appreciated.

We were pleased to advise that local chapter member and Hall of Famer Monte Irvin was invited to San Francisco to throw out the first pitch of the 2010 World Series.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday December 14th at the Ragin Cajun and our special guest will be former Astros outfielder Kevin Bass.

Make your plans to join us. The food is terrific and the baseball conversaton is even batter.
